STANDARD PREPARATION FOR HANGING A QUILT 1. Each quilt must have a hanging sleeve on the back of the quilt. Usually this is a 4” sleeve. For directions on how to make a sleeve go to http://quilting.about.com/od/decoratingwithquilts/ss/quilt_sleeve.htm 2. Each quilt must have a slat that fits in the sleeve. The slat usually is wooden and about the width and thickness of a normal ruler. It should be cut about 1” shorter than the width of the quilt, but longer than the sleeve. The bat has a whole drilled in each end. A wire or nylon filament may be attached to hang the quilt. 3. Each quilt should have a permanent label on back, which (at a minimum) identifies the maker of the quilt. |
